I am Alvin Lloyd Minter (“Baba”), age 70. I was born on October 9, 1955, in  Dallas County (Massillin), Marion Junction, Alabama, to the late Willie James  Minter and Beatrice Jordan (“Honey”) Minter.

At an early age, I joined Good Hope Baptist Church in Browns, Alabama. I  graduated from Keith High School in 1973. After high school, I served in the  military, including an assignment in Guam. After my military service, I devoted  my working years to education, serving with the Dallas County School System  and later the Jefferson County School System until I retired.

I departed this life on April 18, 2026.

Daniel Appleby

Daniel A. Appleby 75 of Selma entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Final arrangements by Walker Mortuary Selma, AL. He was born in Yakima, Washington, to Virgil and Allie Mae Appleby and grew up in Moses Lake, Washington. Following high school graduation, Aaron attended both Washington State University and St. Thomas College Seminary before entering Mt. Angel Abbey. During his time at the monastery he was admitted to the Order of Saint Benedict, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary History and Master of Divinity from Mt. Angel College. He pursued various endeavors after leaving the Abbey, including using his rich voice as a singing waiter, lifeguard/swim instructor, and serving as a ballroom dance instructor before marrying his beloved wife, Lily on November 16, 1990. A week later Aaron was ordained to the priesthood in the Anglican Church in America. He learned of the Charismatic Episcopal Church through an article in Charisma magazine about a year later and traveled to Callifonia to meet Bishop Randolph Adler. Aaron was received into the Charismatic Episcopal Church in 1992 and served as vicar of St. Michael's Mission in Washington state until 2000. Following a three month trip to China, Aaron accepted a call to serve at St. John's CEC in the High Desert. In addition to responsibilities at the church, Aaron and Lily operated a non-profit hospitality ministry, Shushan of the Valley.

Aaron and Lily moved to Selma in 2014 and he became an integral part of life at the Cathedral of Christ the King: using his sign language ability to communicate the worship songs: teaching from time to time at Cathedral Academy; and preaching or assisting with services as needed. His monastic background was put to use as he was tasked with developing a liturgy for a chanted Vespers service at the Cathedral. Aaron worked tirelessly to complete that work and led the service six days a week. He and Lily provided hospitality on a regular basis through another non-profit ministry, Shushan of the Garden.

Aaron's memory can be honored by tax-deductible gift payable to Shushan of the Garden, c/o Cathedral of Christ the King, P.O. Box 661, Selma, AL 36702
